1. “Oak Island Money Pit Mystery,” (June 5, 2010). YouTube
Clip. 1:54-2:24 The layout of the money pit.
This YouTube video is a clip from a History Channel show
discussing the origins controversies and facts involving the money pit on Oak
Island. This video is very informative and easy to understand. If you have no
prior knowledge of the subject this gives you a very Basic explanation of the
conspiracy. It even goes into detail of the structure of the money pit and
explains why even with today’s current technology we cannot reach the treasure.
I enjoyed watching this video it was originally reference to
me through a friend this semester. I find this video to be accurate with all
the other articles I’ve read online regarding the subject. To me this is
extremely reliable as comes from the History Channel, which is proven accurate in the past.

2. Money Pit Diagram.
In this diagram, there is a very basic sketch of the money
pit or area on Oak Island where there is believed to be treasure. It goes on to
describe how every 10 feet, there are platforms of oak logs, and eventually
other materials such as charcoal, putty, and cocoanut. At 90 feet there are
stone slabs, and below that at 122 feet, empty space.
This picture shows relevance to my topic, as it is a great
representation of the money pit located in Oak Island. The diagram is a great
visual example of what is discussed in the YouTube clip, from the previous
example. It goes in depth as far showing each layer of the money pit and what
is located in between. The picture even shows some of the treasures that have
been found and where in the money pit they were located. I’m using this because
it is a very easy way for readers, who have no knowledge of my topic, to
understand the challenges involved in retrieving the treasure. It also shows
how complex this design is, that was clearly created hundreds potentially
thousands of years ago. It allows us to deduce that the people who made this
elaborate design, were extremely smart. Another notable part is at 153 feet,
where there is a tunnel to the south shore.

“Oak Island.” The Discovery: Paragraphs 1-5. How the
money pit was found.
This entire webpage’s contents include very useful and well
researched information. It describes everything from the discovery of the money
pit, how it functions. The paragraphs
that should be focused on (1-5) are a good introduction to the subject as it
goes into detail about how the pit was found.
This section of the website provides good background on the Money Pit that was illustrated to readers in the last two annotations. After
doing plenty of research I find this to be extremely accurate. I have done a
lot of research on the subject and this site appears to be a clear example of
how the conspiracy started, and what began the search for the alleged treasure.
For any reader of our course or level of education, these paragraphs are a
great example of how the legend began. In any case of a conspiracy, the origin has potential to be the most important part in proving success or succession.

“First Hints of Treasure.” Paragraphs 1-5.
These five paragraphs begin to discuss what might be in the Money Pit. After all that's what this whole mystery is about, people’s desire
to find what is down in the pit. The paragraphs discuss that 3 gold links were
discovered in the pit. This is important as it shows even more potential for a
buried treasure at the bottom of the pit.
In the suggested paragraphs, readers will now have an idea
of what could be in the Money Pit on Oak Island. It goes well with the previous three
examples as now they know the origin of the money pit, what it looks like, and
now its contents. Since the pit is near impossible to get into, this would just entice further excavation. I believe that these paragraphs are very important for the
readers of my blog to understand. The fact that there was a discovery of gold
in the money pit inspired curiosity to potential money pit project investors
and increased possibility for a big reward being at the bottom of the pit.
Although no one knows for sure what is in the Money Pit, gold links are a good
start.

This entire webpage was full of useful information, very similar to the other annotations. It discusses the discovery and the design, but hits on tourism to oak island near the very end of the page.
It is very interesting that this page discusses that fact that there was a demand for tourism. This proves there is interest on this topic to the general public. The page talks about how there was a petition to make the land on Oak Island public land. When these issues were raised, more attention was brought to the island itself and it actually turned the Canadian government against using the Island for commercial use. Now treasure hunters must receive licensing to continue hunting with the intention to keep what they find.
